The Under 16 closes the 2nd consecutive Development Tournament unbeaten
The team returns from Malta with the second position. As happened last year, when they won the tournament, Oscar Sonejee’s boys return home undefeated, having scored in each game. |
Second UEFA Development Tournament where the Under 16 national Team ends unbeaten. The team, which closes the tournament in second place, also gets to score in each match.
MALTA – ANDORRA (1-1)
The Under 16 started the Development Tournament with a point against the most complicated opponent of the week, who also was playing at home. Malta and Andorra tied 1. Albert Rosas put ahead Oscar Sonejee’s team in the 28th minute, but then Malta tied at 36. With a point in the pocket for each team, proceeded to the penalty shootout (regulations of these tournaments). The locals took the extra point. However, Andorra dominated the game and had many chances. The tournament started with a promising point. LIECHTENSTEIN – ANDORRA (0-1) In the second match, the Under 16 took the 3 points. Andorra beat Liechtenstein. Again, many times and clear dominance of the tricolor. Juan Bellido scored. The Under 16 added the first victory in the UEFA Development Tournament, and was ratified, even more, as a team to take into account. ANDORRA – GIBRALTAR (1-1)
In the third match of the tournament, Andorra had to face Gibraltar. Distribution of points despite being far superior to the rival on the pitch. The Under 16 went ahead with a goal in the 9th minute of the game. Joel Ferreira advanced the team with a shot that bounced off a defender before entering. In the minute 27 Gibraltar transformed a penalty. With the final whistle, the two teams added one point. Gibraltar took the extra point taking the penalty shootout 7-6 .. One win and two draws in the 3 matches of the UEFA Development Tournament in Malta. 5 points that leave Andorra as second classified just behind the locals. The Under 16 closes the second Development Tournament unbeaten consecutively, and also, scoring in each of the matches played. And it’s that the Under16 has been ratified as a team with a great future for the new generations.
